Digi + Tarrazu’s Cat Tales … vol2

Gotcha Day!

Goodness, the response to our first post was lovely! It was the proof we needed that we should have taken fewer naps over the last two years and studied the Big Glowing Box more!! If somehow you did miss it, you may want to go read that first so you know what the hey is going on …

Welcome back!

So, speaking of two years … We celebrated our Gotcha Day anniversary this weekend! Mom has been asking us (in a rather annoying high pitched voice that she seems to be reserved for only us) what we think of the last two years. ‘Do we have any requests for the next 2?’ she says … And my thought is ‘Why are we talking 2 years? … I think we need to plan projects for June. I want a kitty palace in the near future!’

Dad built us this set up after we first came home, but Digi is convinced it’s just the tip of the iceberg in the world of kitty condos.

Correct!

Anyhow, this time last year mom wrote a bit about us and how we came to call the Square, basement and that pillow in front of the fireplace our home. I suppose it’s accurate … But here is how WE remember it.

Many moons ago we had a lovely mother who was covered in orange stripes. We’ll call her Orangeina! And her mom was a nice 2 legged lady who had lots of wrinkles and loved to hold Orangeina on her lap and cuddle. We’ll call her Orangeinamom. It was quite a surprise when Orangeinamom (and her caretaker) realized that Orangeina was going to have kittens! Once we were all here we were gosh darn irresistible. Orangeina was a great mom and helped us grow big and strong and always made sure we got along together. I was picked on the most because I was the smallest and when this happened Orangeina tried to break things up and told my sisters ‘play nice with her! with her extra toes she can swat you extra hard!’  It was the best piece of advice she ever gave me!

Then came the day where we had to leave Orangeina for good. Orangeinamom and her caretaker had been telling us about a ‘new home’ and ‘new mom’ for a few days now so we were prepared for that.

But we were not prepared for the car ride getting there!

There were 3 of us looking for new homes so the lot of us were put into the back of the car and driven around in circles for what felt like forever.

I think I bit you.

I think you did too!

When we finally stopped there was a big car next to us and a very, very blonde girl who was standing nearby. She clearly wanted to hold and love us and could barely wait to get us out of the box. It was a little intimidating, to say the least! Orangeinamom’s caretaker is who brought us out and she described the personalities of the three of us as best she could. I remember her saying that I needed extra love because I had extra toes. I liked that reasoning! I hoped that my new mom would take that to heart.

And for me she said that I talked to my toys when I played with them … That’s true but really, I talk to anything and everything when I want something. I talk to mom to demand the back door be opened or that we be fed, I talk to the birds to demand that they come a wee bit closer, I talk to the neighbor dog to warn that as soon as I get down to his level there will be trouble for all that barking and I talk to my shrimp toys saying ‘here pretty pretty.’

So something that Orangeinamom’s caretaker said made our new mom decide that we were the ones that got a new home. As soon as our new mom got us to our new home and we were able to roam and explore and we met dad, we were happy campers!! And since then our life has been rather grand.

Of course there have been the ups and downs…

By ups do you mean the bat in the bedroom?

Well, I guess that was one of them, yes.

Yeah I knew it. I want to tell that story when we get there.

No problem! After all, you helped get it out of the sky so dad could trap it in a sheet.

True. That was me. I’m pretty fearless. (holds head high)

(rolls eyes) yes, you sure are.

Well, that pretty much sums up our Gotcha Day story!! Hope you enjoyed it and don’t forget that if you do have any questions or stories you’d like us to answer or tell, feel free to comment here or send us notes at our very own notebox! DigiTarra@chocolatemooseimages.com.

Meet the newest Perdue! His name is Memphis and he is a Fox Hound that was rescued from a camp ground near Red Oak, Iowa. It sounds like he was pretty lucky that there was a volunteer from the rescue around when the park found him or else he may have not made it. And now he is living a fantastic life at the Perdue farm … or at least it was still fantastic for everyone when I left on Thursday 🙂

We picked him up on Tuesday and let him get accustomed to his new house, new cat siblings and new people before heading to the cabin for some swimming, sun and bocce. He seemed to LOVE spending time with us and exploring everything. And yes, he does have a pretty awesome hound bark! I think he is going to be a GREAT farm dog and may even keep the mean, stray cats (or rabbits!) away.

Tina saved him a bone from our meal a night or two before so he got a tasty treat on day one. It must have been a bit too rich for his belly because on the way home it came back up … but that could also be blamed on Margee’s driving 🙂

He also has amazing, floppy ears that in the crazy strong wind nearly lifted him off the ground …

Boy, he is a great dog! I can’t wait to get back down to see him soon. And the fam, of course 🙂

Digi + Tarrazu’s Cat Tales … vol1

Why Hello there!

Yes, Hello!

We are THRILLED you are here.

Uh, Tarra… Shouldn’t you tell them who WE is?

Ah, yes. True. WE are Digi and Tarrazu

… the 4 paws and 39 toes behind Chocolate Moose Images.  WE are what keeps this place purring. You may recognize us?

Digi and Tarrazu of Chocolate Moose Images takes over the computer to tell the REAL side of their stories on this cat blog

That pretty, pretty face is me, Digi. I am small but mighty and am smarter than your average kitty cat.

And this focused (and ALWAYS starving) kitty is me, Tarra. I would do anything for shrimp toys, a walk outside or a belly rub and prefer when they are combined.

So you may be asking yourself, ‘self, how is it that 2 cats have figured out how to use a ‘Big Glowing Box’ since they are rather challenging?’ And to that I say ‘pish posh. we 2 cats are smart, smart, smart and I only wonder how it took us this long to learn how to use the Big Glowing Box??’ After months and months of watching mom’s constant click click click we think we have it all figured out and I’ll let you in on the secret … toes and cuteness.

With my extra toes and Tarra’s … What were we calling it?

‘The ability to render mom useless with cuteness’

…yes. That’s right. well, with these 2 talents and our new found understanding of the Big Glowing Box, clickers to make these words and mom’s constant chatter about what she has going on, we are going to share stories of our lives from our perspective … we are sick of mom writing and not getting the facts right!

While we understand that most of you reading this are 2 legged pet parents, we encourage you to share our stories with your 4 legged family members too. We think they can probably relate.

Well, since mom will be home soon (probably smelling like animals, as usual), we bid you adieu and look forward to the next time we can take over the Big Glowing Box!

Feel free to comment here or send us notes at our very own notebox! DigiTarra@chocolatemooseimages.com. Mom keeps saying that people LOVE us so we thought there might be some 2 or 4 leggeders who have burning questions. Send em our way! We are excited to answer the tough stuff such as why are we so beautiful? (Oh shucks, thank you!) how is it we feel so comfortable on a leash? (Easy! It means going out.side.) or what is our favorite flavor of meat? (Wow … I need time to think about that one.)

…now, to decide where to nap. Life is all about tough decisions.

American Animal Rescue :: mpls pet photographer

2 1/2 weeks ago (wow! really? already?) I was lucky enough to spend my day with the awesome and incredibly talented Karin Newstrom taking photos of rescue animals that are available for adoption from Ruff Start Rescue as well as Second Hand Hounds. We went up to Sit Means Sit in Spring Lake Park and set up camp for the afternoon. During the course of the day we photographed nearly 40 dogs and cats that are currently looking for their forever home through the rescues.

While Karin worked inside with the studio set up, I had free reign of a box of kittens and a few pups outside 🙂 it was pretty spectacular and very, very hard to not take these little pumpkins home! Considering our weather that day I was extra glad that Karin had her set up. I got to be a lovely assistant for a change, learned a lot and only had my treat hand nibbled a dozen or so times. Thank you to everyone involved including, of course, the American Animal Rescue for organizing all of this. And I really hope this helps get more pups and kitties adopted!!

ps … these kittens were so small that those things that look like big grains of rice coming out of their paws?? those are baby kitten claws. yep. they were itty.bitty!!!

oh man … NOTHING cuter than a puppy in a basket  … unless it’s a kitten in a basket. Yes, that would be cuter 🙂

Please visit Ruff Start Rescue to see more information on each of these animals and many, many others that Karin photographed as well. And I would encourage you to check out her post about these little at her blog here.

Besos!
