twin cities ‘smile for a cure!’ :: fighting canine cancer
I’m so pleased to announce that myself and 3 other Twin Cities pet photographers are rallying together to raise money and awareness for the fight against canine cancer. The organization Smile for a Cure was started by Nunthany Johnson in loving memory of her dog, Max, who passed away from Canine Cancer. And from that tragedy blossomed Smile for a Cure to not only help families currently dealing with canine cancer, but also to honor those animals long after they are gone, all with the same goal in mind – to cure cancer.
So, what’s the gist? The 4 of us photographers are offering 2 sessions each (8 in total) to be completed sometime during August and September. The price of this session is just $150 and for that you will receive a photo session with one of us fabulously talented ladies + a mini-brag book from your session to show off to anyone and everyone + the amazing feeling knowing that 100% of that price will go to the National Canine Cancer Foundation.
Ok – so now you’re interested? FANTASTIC! There’s more … In order to receive one of these 8 sessions, we want to see a photo of your dog + a brief description about why you want to support this organization on our Facebook page by July 29th. Once we’ve closed submissions, the 4 of us will get together and pick the winners. Please keep in mind that by entering you agree to pay the $150 fee if selected as the winner. When you enter you can notate your preferred photographer if you have one and if none is notated, we reserve the right to match you up with who we think will fit best. Also, no more than 2 pets per winning session but negotiating is welcome. More details are noted in the flyer above.
We are all so thrilled to be working together to offer these sessions and more importantly, help out this amazing organization!! Head over to our Facebook page for some touching stories and to enter into this contest. And please share with your friends!! The more the merrier!
the littlest tiger
So much more to come from my weekend in Iowa but first, a photo of the littlest tiger I’ve ever gotten to play with
… almost too cute for words 🙂
To my delight, there was a litter of 4 teeny-tiny itty-bitty kittens that I got to play with last weekend. I really don’t think I’ve ever held a smaller kitten! I instantly was smitten and so excited to have a ‘basket-o-kitties’ photo shoot. Seriously, I was tempted to even pull up a chair right next to the power washer and drill Mama stashed her babes behind. This little peanut above was the biggest and boldest of the 4 and a Mama look-a-like. Can’t wait to get back down there in a month or so to see how big they’ve gotten!!
… stay tuned!!
summer kitties
zeus + sigmund … best friends
When Angela contacted me a few weeks back and told me about Zeus and Sigmund and how they were cat and dog but best friends, I got super excited. As you’ve no doubt been able to tell, I’m a cat girl. I love LOVE dogs and really enjoy working with them because they definitely have a bit more overall pizzazz than cats do, but to shoot a dog and a cat together? A little bit of heaven 🙂
Angela had such great stories to tell me about Sigmund and Zeus which is 1/2 the fun of pet sessions! When I got there Sigmund was definitely in explore mode. He was a smidge unsure of the camera but it didn’t take long for him to figure out it was pretty harmless. He did, however, spare no expense when trying to run out of the backyard. As it turns out, his favorite favorite spot is the neighbor’s front porch. Doesn’t matter who the neighbors are, but that porch is his domain.
He definitely looks like a hunter!!
And then there is Zeus! He really enjoyed the game “sit.stay.eat treat” and quickly figured that one out. He is a definite mama’s boy and such a sweetie. He loves fetch and even has a set route through the yard – more or less, regardless of where the stick or frisbee might end up. {I’m still impressed your peonies are hanging in there!}
I’ll be honest, when Angela said that the boys were best friends, I did have visions of them falling a sleep in a pile of adorableness in the backyard on a dog bed. That wasn’t even CLOSE to happening since Sig was distracted by the gate and Zeus was just excited. Maybe next time 🙂 Later that evening Angela said they crashed on the couch together so there is proof that they cuddle. Now I just need to be in the right place at the right time!
Thanks guys!! You’re boys are fantastic 🙂
