Astro! :: minneapolis pet photographer
This Boston Terrier is fantastic. Really. He has so much energy, a super fun personality, neato parents and the classic Boston Terrier tuxedo attire. You may remember him? I did photos of him last August and shared them here and here. This family made it incredibly clear that they dearly love their Astro when they placed an incredibly close second in my CMICBMFP contest from earlier this year. {If you have no idea what I’m talking about maybe take a few minutes to check out those links which shows the unending cuteness I was fortunate enough to photograph last year.} Anyways, since the Goldstein’s put so much effort into the contest I couldn’t help but award them with the first place prize as well. Hooray! 🙂
Since most of his very warm and sunny shoot last Summer involved ball throwing, sun bathing and tongue flailing we thought we’d do something a bit calmer this time round. At first Astro wasn’t so sure about being calm around his new friend. He just wanted to play and work for treats!
… but then slowly he started to relax and drift off. very slowly.
but before too long, he was out for the count 🙂
bah – so cute!!
pretty pretty dachshunds :: minneapolis pet photographer
I don’t know what it is about dachshunds but I think they are some of the cutest dogs around! They have such short legs and such a long body that I can’t help but want to give them HUGE hugs and dress them up as hot dogs 🙂
Several weeks back I had the pleasure to visit these two lovely pups at their River Falls, WI home …
it was a lovely, sunny, spring evening and these pups were ready to work for treats 🙂
Meet Dieter … He is a silver dapple dachshund who LOVES being the center of attention. He has been through quite a lot in the last few years but doesn’t let on to that when you meet him. After being attacked by a neighbor dog which broke his back, he has amazingly begun learning how to use his back legs again! He scuffles along like a rocket and can even pick his legs up sometimes. It’s easier to scuffle so he needs some encouragement to use the legs 🙂 He is such a sweetie!!!
what a beauty, huh??
Now, this is Dieter’s sister, Chami (pronounced Sham-ie). She has some of the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen on a pup!! She looks a bit like a little mop and is a big bundle of love.
One of the best stories Sue told was of a recent grooming that Chami had … I groomer had tamed her bangs and made them all ‘pretty.’ When Sue walked in Chami looked somewhat distressed and she wasn’t sure why. Then she noticed the bangs, walked over to her, scuffled them up and Chami perked right up. Too funny! I love animals personalities!!
Now seriously, aren’t these some of the CUTEST little pups you’ve ever seen??? I just wanted to take them home with me! I doubt the girls would have let me in the apartment but you never know … they might be fast friends 🙂
Dieter and Chami are just 2 of the lovely pups that their mom, Sue has. She is one of the biggest dog lovers I’ve met and is so dedicated to giving the animals the best possible life. It was really fun to chit chat with her and see her interact with the pups. They are all lucky to be able to call that farm their home 🙂
Thanks Sue!!! 🙂
three dog bakery, omaha
While I was in Iowa last week I spent time helping the fam find their new pup, Memphis. Before we knew about Memphis we started our search for the perfect dog in Omaha at their humane society. Before getting there we made a quick detour to Three Dog Bakery because I figured if we were already having a dog themed day, why not check out this bakery?? And I wanted to get some yummy treats for my upcoming shoots.
The bakery was pretty amazing with countless delicious looking things for your pups. The fancy glass cases made everything so enticing 🙂 I picked up some bagels, a piece of carrot cake and a s’more. Because of the weather over the weekend my planned photo shoots were rescheduled so actually, Roux was the lucky receiver of the bulk of these treats. She didn’t mind!
Pretty delicious looking, right?! So the point of my post is that if you are ever in Omaha and need some excellent dog treats you should definitely stop by the Three Dog Bakery and pick some up.
Canines & Cocktails on the Croix
… I know, I have some people hooked with just the title
But really, I’m super excited about this event!! There is an organization called ‘Friends of Stillwater Dog Park’ which is located in Stillwater, MN that is raising money to build a dog park. Last year they put on the wildly successful ‘Sushi with your Dog’ and this year they are hosing ‘Canines & Cocktails on the Croix.’ It is going to be held at Shanghai Bistro in Stillwater on June 23rd from 12-3, so grab tickets and mark your calendars!! There will be door prizes, pet photography by none other than Chocolate Moose Images (or, me), live music and discounted food and drink and tickets are only $10! It’s all for a great cause so I encourage you to go!! Please check out their website for more info on the organization and contact (651) 439-6688 for more details regarding the event.
And since all posts need photos, please enjoy Mrs. Mae from the MN Pit Bull Rescue. I’m SO excited to say that she did find a forever home after these photos were taken and it is lovely to think that I might have been able to help!! There are many other dogs available through the org, all of which are lovely. Please check them out if you are ‘dog shopping.’
